discoveries in America

Welcome to my blog about my genealogical research. After 5 posts in German language it‘s now time for a post in English language.
The Jungherr‘s I found in America can be devided into six lines.

1. Descendants of Dr. Erwin Leopold Jungherr. He was born in Salzburg, Austria, studied in Vienna and immigrated to America in the 1920‘s. He continued his studies at Columbia University and at the universities of Michigan and Chicago.
Erwin was an assistant professor at the experimental station at Montana State College from 1924 to 1930 and that year joined the staff of the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College and then went to the University of Connecticut.
At the time of his death he was a pathologist an the American Cyanamid Company‘s Lederie Laboratories in Pearl River, New York. He was an authority on diseases of fowl.
He left his wife, three sons and two daughters.

2. Descendants of Marie Kronfuss (nee Jungherr). She was the aunt of Erwin and immigrated to America in 1893 with her husband Rupert. They farmed in Medford, Wisconsin, and had four children.

3. Descendants of Herman Jungherr. He war born in the 1860‘s in Elvershagen in Pomerania, married in America and had three daughters and one son.

4. Descendants of Carl Yunkherr, Herman‘s brother. He changed the writing of his name. I found 570 descendants of the two brothers.

5. Descendants of Theodore Jungherr. He was born in Germany and immigrated to America in 1831. In my next post I will write more about his descendants.

6. Descendants of Franz and Charlotte Jungherr. They lived in Westfalen, Germany, and some of their children immigrated to America and lived in Philadelphia. I found 850 descendants. In one of my next posts I will write more about them.

Best wishes,
Anita
